Montana Six-plume - Alucita montana - Hodges#2313

At only 10mm in size, this is probably one of my favorite moths. One morning I found this one resting on the stucco by the door. They fly very delicately and after looking at its wings, I know why.

Bronze Jumper - Eris militaris

I can never get tired of photographing jumping spiders. When I'm looking at them through the lens they look right back at me. I've even had some jump on the end of the lens while I was trying to shoot them.

Millipede - Blaniulus guttulatus

One afternoon while we were sitting at the picnic table having our tea, I was looking at one of the Black Walnuts that had dropped off the tree recently. It was kind of fuzzy and sticky but I saw something crawling on it. I grabbed my camera and took a closer look and found this tiny millipede barely the thickness of a pencil lead. Dart Moth - Papestra cristifera - Hodges#10312

This moth was hiding on a tree trunk by the picnic table. Another nice find.

Fruit Fly - Tephritidae

I wasn't surprised to find a fruit fly with all the orchards around.

Grass Spider - Agelenopsis & Black Vine Weevil - Otiorhynchus sulcatus

I was looking for spiders around the barn when I came across this combo. The grass spider didn't stick around long, the weevil didn't have much choice.

Millipede - Cylindroiulus caeruleocinctus

There is a very large stump close to the barn where the California Quail like having their dust baths. It is on that rotting stump that I spotted the millipedes. Apparently they are an introduced species from Europe.
